DIPROLENE AF INFORMATION

Diprolene AF Uses

Diprolene AF is a medication used to treat skin conditions. Diprolene AF is a steroid and cortisone that reduces inflammation and helps to stop or lessen the urge to scratch the area.

Each time you scratch an infection you spread rashes, this is because it gets under your nails and stays there until you deposit the infection somewhere else.

How to use Diprolene AF

Follow your doctors instructions. Apply diprolene af in a thin film, exactly as instructed by your doctor. Typical treatment is 1 or 2 applications of diprolene af daily. Do not use diprolene af for longer than prescribed. Diprolene af is for topical use only. Keep diprolene af out of your eyes.
Once you have applied your diprolene af never cover the skin with an airtight bandage or other tight dressing.
In the case of a fungal or bacterial skin infection, you will need antifungal or antibacterial medication in addition to diprolene af.
If an improvement is not prompt, you should not stop using diprolene af until the infection is visibly clearing.

Side effects

A possible side effect while using diprolene af is stinging or burning of the skin where diprolene af has been applied. Other side effects on the skin can include acne like eruptions, atrophy, broken capillaries, cracking, tightening or dryness of the skin, excess hair growth, infected hair follicles, inflammation, irritation, itching, prickly heat, rash, redness, and sensitivity to touch. Diprolene af may be absorbed and produce side effects elsewhere in the body.

Precautions

Do not use diprolene af near the eyes if you have glaucoma. Treatment with diprolene af for more than a two weeks consecutively is not recommended. Do not use diprolene afif there is an infection or there are sores present on the area to be treated. Although unlikely, it is possible that diprolene af will be absorbed into the bloodstream. This may result in undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. This is especially true for children and for those who have used diprolene af for an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after you have stopped stopping using diprolene af. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Diprolene af should be used cautiously during pregnancy and only if clearly needed. Discuss the benefits and risks with your doctor. Small amounts of diprolene af may appear in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Drug Interactions

The effects of diprolene af could be increased, decreased, or altered by other medications. Tell your doctor of all prescription and over the counter medications you are taking. Do not use diprolene af along with any other steroid-containing product. Such combinations increase the chance of absorption and side effects.

Overdose

If an overdose of diprolene af is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Diprolene af may be harmful if swallowed.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose of diprolene af apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and go back to your regular diprolene af schedule.
