Taking Propecia

Follow the directions for using Propecia provided by your doctor.

Propecia may be taken once daily on an empty stomach.

If you take propecia daily you could see results in as little as 3 months. If you stop taking propecia, however, your results will gradually go away over 12 months.

If Propecia hasn't worked within 12 months, then it is unlikely that propecia will be of benefit to you.

Side effects

It is possible that propecia may cause a change in sexual function. If this continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. Contact your doctor immediatly if you experience the following side effects or symptoms of toxicity: skin rash or swelling of lips. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Drug Interactions

Precautions

Before starting a course of propecia, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver disease, prostate cancer, urinary tract disease, drug allergies. Propecia (Finasteride) should not be used in women or children.

Propecia can be absorbed through the skin. If the film coating the Propecia tablet has been broken or the tablet crushed, it should not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or plans to become pregnant. Any contact with propecia by a developing male fetus could result in abnormalities of the external genitalia. Propecia must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known if propecia is excreted into breast milk. However, propecia is not indicated for use in women.

Overdose

If an overdose of propecia is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Missed Dose

If you miss a Propecia dose and you remember the same day, take it as soon as possible. If you do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 propecia doses at once.

Propecia Storage

Propecia should be stored at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from moisture.
