Ranitidine belongs to a class of medications called H2-blockers that block the action of histamine on stomach cells, this rsults in reduced stomach acid production.

Side effects

Ranitidine may cause minor side effects such as constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, insomnia, muscle pain, nausea, and vomiting.

More serious side effects are rare and include: agitation, anemia, confusion, depression, easy bruising or bleeding, hallucinations, hair loss, irregular heartbeat, rash, visual changes, and yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Ranitidine is not habit forming.

Safety of ranitidine in children has not been established.

Do not share ranitidine with others.

Drug Interactions

The absorption of ranitidine may be affected if you take antacids.

Ranitidine is not habit forming. Ranitidine can interfere with the metabolism of alcohol. Ranitidine and alcohol together may have lead to elevated blood alcohol levels.
